Another holiday in Scotland, this is the last of Dad’s slides that I have, for now (more are coming). We rented a cottage on the Isle of Skye, not far from Portree. I remember it very well; especially the day we drove up into the spectacular Cuillin Range; I was in the back of the…

A few slides showing a family gathering at my grandmother’s house in Carlton, a small hamlet between Saxmundham and Kelsale. My brother and I weren’t there, we probably stayed at home in Kent. What was the occasion? A little puzzle to amuse you. In the first six photos, who was using the camera? In the…

We had a family holiday on the Norfolk Broads in 1965, aboard yacht Pomme d’Or (with mast stepped due to low bridges!). It was a great trip, I remember it well. Just beforehand, Dad took a walk from home in Sundridge to photograph construction progress on the A21 Sevenoaks Bypass… For helping me to locate…

This film shows a summer visit to Suffolk, staying with our aunt and cousins, which I always enjoyed. After that, Mum and Dad took the Vauxhall to a gathering in Luton at Vauxhall’s new Design and Testing Building (later to become Griffin House). After that, back to our new home in Sundridge.

This is a mixed bag, full of stories. Firstly, some old aircraft, then a visit to a ship, Solen, that looks as though it needed some repairs to its hull. A few shots of old commercial vehicles follow, from the 1964 HCVS London-Brighton Run, then a visit to Beaulieu Motor Museum, the house in Sundridge…

One for the veteran and vintage car buffs – a street-side gathering somewhere in Dulwich (S. London), roadside shots of the 1963 London-Brighton Run, and a visit to Kelsale in Suffolk in December that year. My aunt and cousins lived in a stately Georgian mansion!

I remember this holiday fondly. We drove overnight from Kent to Glasgow, where we picked up the hired caravan. From there we drove through the western Highlands, staying overnight at various places. We reached Ardmair Bay, just north of Ullapool. Quite a long way up! It was a special time for us all.

This was an incredible voyage, in a small yacht called Sea Goblin. Lovely photos of Ramsgate, and some truly historic moments for seafarers in Portsmouth – a submarine and several aircraft carriers. They saw some amazing sights!

Quite a range of photos on this film, and interesting to research. 1962/3 was a very cold winter in Britain, with lots of snow… The London-Brighton Run was in November ‘62, and the winter chill is clear in the all the photos. Dad even had the roof down, on the Vauxhall!

Wholly on dry land (!) this one shows a family trip to Suffolk and a street fair in Aldeburgh, followed by a beach visit and traction engine rally in Kelvedon, Essex on the way home.
